Scott's Generations Announces Closing After 37 Years Serving the Valley

Longtime Central Phoenix family-owned New York deli will serve its final customers Sunday, October 25

PHOENIX, Ariz. — October 1, 2026 — After more than 37 years serving the Valley, Scott’s Generations will serve its final meals on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Scott’s Generations was founded in June 1989 by father and son, Gene and Scott Snyder, shortly after the Snyder family moved to Arizona from New York. What began as a desire to bring an authentic New York deli experience to the desert grew into a Phoenix institution, serving generations of families along the way.

For nearly four decades, Scott’s Generations has been known for its overstuffed deli sandwiches, homemade soups, smoked fish, knishes, cheesecake and traditional Jewish deli favorites. The restaurant has also received numerous local accolades, including being named Best Jewish Deli by Phoenix New Times multiple times, most recently in 2026.

But for the Snyder family, Generations has always been about much more than food.

“This restaurant has been part of our family for nearly four decades, but somewhere along the way, our customers and employees became part of that family too, ” said Scott Snyder. “We have watched kids who came in with their parents grow up and bring in children of their own. We’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and countless milestones together. That is what makes closing this chapter so difficult. ”

The family tradition continued into a third generation, with Scott’s son Ross Snyder growing up working behind the counter and later joining his father in carrying on the business as it moved to its current location on Glendale Avenue.

“Generations is quite literally where I grew up, ” said Ross Snyder. “Some of my earliest memories are standing on a milkcrate behind the cash register. I learned about business here, but more importantly, I learned about hard work, relationships and taking care of people. ”

The restaurant’s final day of service will be Sunday, October 25, 2026, at its current location at 742 E. Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. Until then, the Snyder family invites longtime customers, friends and members of the community to stop by, enjoy a favorite meal and share a few memories.

“To everyone who has eaten at our tables, ordered from our deli counter, trusted us with a family celebration or simply stopped in for a cup of coffee over the past 37 years, thank you, ” the Snyder family said. “It has been an incredible privilege to serve this community. The restaurant may be closing, but the relationships, stories and memories created here will always be part of our family. ”
